Exail’s Octans Nano OEM Attitude and Heading Reference System (AHRS) has been selected by Klein Marine Systems as the standard navigation solution for its 5900 Side Scan Sonar (SSS).

This collaboration aims to enhance Klein’s sonar precision and reliability for high-resolution seabed mapping, supporting a range of defense, security, and commercial applications.

Exail’s Octans Nano OEM AHRS offers compact, high-accuracy attitude and heading data, optimizing sonar performance in demanding underwater environments.

The Exail Octans Nano OEM AHRS offers a heading accuracy of 0.5° secant latitude, and pitch and roll accuracy of 0.1°, ensuring stable and precise attitude and heading data. These capabilities are essential for optimizing sonar image quality, improving positioning accuracy, and reducing the need for extensive post-processing. The system’s compact design and low power consumption allow for seamless integration into subsea platforms, making it ideal for extended underwater missions where precise attitude data is critical.

The Klein 5900 SSS is known for its high-resolution seabed mapping capabilities, supporting critical tasks such as geophysical surveys, wreck detection, and the identification of unexploded ordnance (UXO). With the integration of Exail’s AHRS technology, the sonar’s ability to maintain stability and reduce drift in challenging underwater conditions is strengthened, ensuring consistent and precise data collection in even the most complex environments.

Ted Curley, General Manager at Klein Marine Systems, commented, “By integrating the Exail Octans Nano OEM into our 5900 SSS, we are significantly enhancing both positioning accuracy and image stability. This advanced motion compensation technology reduces data errors, delivering clearer and more reliable imagery for critical missions.”

Shayan Haque, Regional Sales Manager at Exail, added, “Klein Marine Systems’ selection of the Exail Octans Nano OEM reflects the trust placed in our cutting-edge AHRS technology. We are proud to support Klein’s mission to deliver innovative solutions that empower users to perform more precise and efficient underwater surveys.”

Exail’s developments in inertial navigation technology continue to support advancements in subsea navigation and positioning. Through this collaboration, Exail and Klein Marine Systems aim to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of seabed mapping and underwater exploration across a range of applications.
