Airmar Technology Corporation has announced the launch of its next-generation 300WX WeatherStation product line, featuring upgraded sensor accuracy and modern wireless capabilities.
The 2026 lineup consists of two primary models: the 300WX and the 300WX-IP67. Both instruments integrate Bluetooth wireless connectivity, allowing technicians and operators to interface with Airmar’s CAST mobile application. This link enables the configuration of sensors and outputs from a mobile device at ranges up to 100 meters. A significant maintenance advantage of this wireless integration is the ability to perform firmware updates remotely, eliminating the need to remove instruments from masts or mounting hardware.
Engineering improvements in the 300WX series include enhanced wind speed accuracy, now rated at 1.5 knots RMS at 20 knots. The multisensors maintain a rugged, maintenance-free design with no moving parts, measuring apparent wind speed and direction, air temperature, barometric pressure, and calculated values such as wind chill and dew point. The 300WX model includes relative humidity sensing, while the 300WX-IP67 is specifically designed for harsh offshore environments with an IP67-rated housing for superior protection against water ingress.
Beyond basic atmospheric data, the instruments provide critical navigational and motion metrics, including Speed Over Ground (SOG), Course Over Ground (COG), pitch and roll, and rate of turn. Utilizing an integrated three-axis compass, three-axis rate gyro, and GNSS, the units calculate dynamic True wind speed and direction by filtering out the wind speed generated by a vessel’s own movement.
Airmar has also expanded the technical compatibility of the series. In addition to standard CAN/NMEA2000 and Serial data protocols, the 300WX models now support J1939 and ISOBUS output protocols, featuring automatic baud rate detection for 250 kbps and 500 kbps environments.
The 300WX-IP67 model will be available in a black housing options to match contemporary electronics installations on recreational boats, workboats, and unmanned surface vessels. This new product line is scheduled for availability in the second quarter of 2026 and is intended to replace the existing 200WX and 200WX-IPX7 instruments. Airmar expects the full transition to the 300WX series to be completed by June 1, 2026.
