These crucial technologies are being showcased on an OST client profile, where the company features its range of subsea actuators featuring contactless absolute position feedback and brushless DC motor control electronics.

Ultra Motion’s actuators are all able to function with impressive consistency in underwater vehicles and technologies that operate at depths of over 6000 meters, due to the compact and lightweight package fortified with a range of measures:

  • MIL-A-8625 Type III anodized aluminum enclosures
  • 316L stainless steel hardware and shafts
  • Cathodic protection
  • Wet-mate underwater connectors

The company has also created Phase Index technology, a position sensor technology for electromechanical actuators that is self-calibrating and retains accurate absolute position when power is off, even without backup power.

Phase Index is highly resilient to vibration, shock, particulate debris, and condensing moisture, and provides reliable performance over a broad temperature range. It is also integrated into all of the company’s Servo Cylinder products, ensuring they have advanced Field-Oriented Control (FOC).

Ultra Motion also develops the next-generation AU Series of subsea servo cylinders, the U-Series of versatile linear actuators, and the T-Series of rotary servo actuators for challenging conditions.
