The introduction of the SU10 uncrewed underwater vehicle marks the expansion of the SYOS autonomous portfolio into the subsurface domain, complementing its existing air, land, and sea capabilities.

The vehicle is engineered for a variety of mission applications, including mine countermeasures, seabed assurance, subsea infrastructure protection, harbour security, and persistent surveillance. Operating at depths of up to 500 meters, the SU10 features a 10-kilogram modular payload capacity that supports inspection, intervention, and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance sensors. It delivers a four-hour battery endurance or can operate indefinitely via surface power supplied through an ultra-slim, fibre-optic tether configured for live-boating. The platform can be deployed from shores, crewed vessels, or SYOS uncrewed surface vessels equipped with a launch and recovery system, and it can be operated locally or remotely from anywhere in the world via a satellite communications surface link.

Integration across domains is managed by AAIMS, the proprietary open-architecture autonomy software stack from SYOS. The software allows operators to plan, task, and re-task multiple vehicles across air, land, and sea domains in real time. Rather than relying on post-mission analysis, AAIMS streams and prioritizes live data during the mission, utilizing operator-centric filtering to reduce cognitive load by highlighting actionable insights over raw data.

SYOS CEO and founder, Sam Vye, said, “The SU10 extends our portfolio undersea and strengthens SYOS as a provider of affordable interoperable uncrewed capability across land, sea, air and now subsurface.

“These are products that stand-alone as class-leaders, or operate as part of a connected, multi-domain uncrewed system – delivering operational effect from air to seabed, through our SYOS single autonomy stack, AAIMS.

“The SU10 enables rapid, scalable operations across both defensive and offensive mission sets. When paired with uncrewed surface vessels and uncrewed aerial systems it becomes part of a persistent offshore node that can deploy, coordinate and adapt, while keeping people out of harm’s way”.

Operational history for the technology includes earlier variants already in service within the New Zealand offshore oil and gas sector for commercial pipeline survey, inspection, and intervention. Looking ahead, the SU10 is scheduled for deployment in late 2026 across planned annual Antarctic missions to perform long-range, under-ice mapping as part of an international research partnership.

Additionally, SYOS is applying these combined surface, subsurface, and aerial systems to advance solutions for anti-submarine warfare. By distributing platforms to increase sensing density and dynamically repositioning assets, the framework aims to extend tracking over wide maritime areas, improve detection and classification, and maintain real-time contact to turn distributed autonomy into a continuous operational advantage.
