NORBIT Subsea has introduced the Integrated Sub-Bottom Profiler (iSBP), a compact new addition to its survey technology portfolio.
Available as an add-on for the WINGHEAD X and WBMS X multibeam echosounder systems, the iSBP allows surveyors to collect high-resolution bathymetric and sub-bottom data simultaneously through a single integrated workflow.
The system is designed for marine professionals requiring both seafloor mapping and information from beneath the seabed. It provides high-performance sub-bottom profiling in a portable format that integrates with NORBIT’s X-series multibeam systems.
By bringing bathymetric mapping and sub-bottom data acquisition together, the iSBP enables surveyors to develop a more complete understanding of underwater environments and seabed conditions while reducing survey time and operational complexity.
All datasets are acquired within the same georeferenced framework, streamlining data processing and maintaining consistency across survey deliverables.
The iSBP includes fully integrated electronics, electronic beam steering of up to ±10 degrees, and range resolution of up to 5 cm. It also supports the simultaneous acquisition of bathymetric and sub-bottom data.
Applications include marine geophysical surveys, inshore and nearshore mapping, geotechnical investigations, sediment characterisation, and sub-seafloor analysis.
The launch further supports NORBIT’s commitment to delivering integrated survey solutions that improve efficiency, data quality, and operational flexibility for hydrographic and geophysical professionals.
