NORBIT has finalized the acquisition of subsea technology specialist Water Linked to bolster its existing underwater acoustics portfolio.
Founded in 2013, Water Linked has established a strong position in the subsea technology market. The company specializes in underwater navigation and imaging technologies designed for remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), and uncrewed surface vessels. Its technical portfolio includes Doppler Velocity Logs (DVLs), 3D imaging sonars, acoustic positioning systems, and underwater communication solutions. These developments enable navigation, perception, and autonomy in GPS-denied environments, which are widely utilized across subsea inspection, offshore energy, marine research, defence, and underwater infrastructure applications.
The integration of Water Linked is intended to complement the existing offerings of the NORBIT Oceans business unit. By combining these complementary technologies, the entities aim to create new opportunities for delivering integrated solutions for underwater vehicles while expanding capabilities in navigation, positioning, imaging, and autonomy. Water Linked will continue operating under its current name as Water Linked, a NORBIT Company. This structure ensures ongoing support for existing customers while allowing the company to benefit from NORBIT’s global reach and broader technology platform.
