Kraken Robotics is a leading provider of advanced underwater imaging and power systems for subsea survey and inspection. Find out more >>
Designed for integration into a range of marine platforms, Kraken’s modular synthetic aperture sonar (SAS) and high-energy subsea batteries deliver superior imaging and endurance. These technologies enhance operational capability across manned and unmanned missions.
Serving industrial, scientific, and defense sectors, Kraken’s solutions support applications such as seabed mapping, pipeline inspection, mine countermeasures, and offshore infrastructure monitoring.
Kraken SAS for High-Resolution Underwater Survey
Kraken SAS is a miniature interferometric synthetic aperture sonar system engineered for consistent high-resolution imaging at ranges up to 200 meters per side.
It features dual-frequency transducers and offers real-time processing of sonar data into SAS tiles, allowing onboard Automatic Target Recognition and reduced post-mission analysis.
The system is available in modular configurations with array lengths of 60, 120, and 180 cm, enabling integration into a wide range of subsea platforms. Kraken SAS delivers simultaneous bathymetric and acoustic data, improving efficiency and increasing survey productivity by up to three times.
MP-SAS for Lightweight & Portable Applications
Kraken MP-SAS brings synthetic aperture sonar capabilities to man-portable platforms. It provides imaging at up to 100 meters per side with 2 x 2 cm resolution, making it ideal for small UUVs that previously lacked SAS capacity.
The system includes a modular payload section that fits vehicles with diameters from 7.5 to 9 inches, and requires no recalibration for field installation.
MP-SAS is a cost-effective way to upgrade legacy subsea vehicles with modern imaging capability.
KATFISH™ for Rapid & Detailed Towed SAS Surveys
KATFISH™ is a stabilized synthetic aperture sonar towfish that combines high-resolution sonar imaging with 3D bathymetric mapping. Operating at speeds up to 10 knots, KATFISH™ delivers 2 x 2 cm post-processed imagery and 3 x 3 cm real-time data, significantly reducing operational time.
Its autonomous launch and recovery system (LARS) and motion-compensating tailfins allow deployment from a variety of vessels, both crewed and uncrewed. KATFISH™ supports applications such as mine countermeasures, pipeline inspection, and marine habitat assessment.
SeaPower™ Batteries for Extended Subsea Operations
SeaPower™ rechargeable subsea batteries offer scalable energy capacity using pressure-tolerant lithium-ion pouch cells within a silicon polymer matrix. This eliminates the need for traditional housings and increases overall mission endurance.
Designed for deepwater use down to 10,000 meters, SeaPower™ batteries are suitable for modular connection in large power banks up to 5 MW. Rapid charging of up to nine units in parallel ensures minimal downtime between missions.
