Kraken Robotics has entered a strategic collaboration with Verlume to deliver fully integrated subsea energy storage solutions.
Under the partnership, Kraken has selected Verlume as its systems integration partner, combining Verlume’s Axonn® intelligent energy management system with Kraken’s SeaPower™ high-performance subsea batteries to address complex power challenges in offshore environments.
The collaboration applies SeaPower™ military-grade battery technology to the offshore energy sector, enabling scalable and reliable power solutions that support subsea autonomy and the transition to low-carbon offshore operations across defense, energy, and robotics markets.
Patrick Paranhos, Vice President of Power Systems at Kraken Robotics, commented, “While Kraken Robotics delivers SeaPower™ batteries to defence clients worldwide for uncrewed underwater vehicles, we have not yet provided solutions for other applications like energy storage for offshore energy operations or subsea resident power stations.”
The partnership is designed to deliver reliable, efficient, and scalable power systems capable of stabilizing offshore energy networks, enhancing subsea autonomy, and supporting low-carbon operations across defense, oil and gas, renewables, and offshore robotics sectors. It also extends the use of SeaPower™ battery technology into offshore energy applications, broadening the scope of existing deployments.
In addition, the agreement enables manufacturing and supply of SeaPower™ batteries at scale from Kraken’s production facilities in Rostock, Germany, and Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. This capacity supports faster delivery and supply across key markets in the UK, Europe, the United States, and Canada.
