ALSEAMAR contributes to the development of autonomous underwater systems and operates vehicles designed for ocean science and marine environmental observation. Find out more >>
The company is showcasing its SEAEXPLORER platform on OST, supporting long-range underwater data collection without the need for a support vessel.
ALSEAMAR’s SEAEXPLORER Gliders for Oceanographic Monitoring
The SEAEXPLORER glider series is used for collecting underwater data at depths of up to 1,250 meters. These autonomous vehicles operate for extended periods on a single battery charge and do not require a support vessel during missions. By surfacing periodically, they transmit their collected data and GPS position for cost-effective remote monitoring.
SEAEXPLORER is modular and supports multiple payloads, allowing configuration for physical, chemical, biological, and acoustic data collection.

Autonomous Vehicles for Extended Missions
SEAEXPLORER gliders operate autonomously over long durations, with efficient battery systems and silent underwater movement. Real-time monitoring and mission updates are supported through a user-centric software suite. These features make SEAEXPLORER well-suited to environmental and scientific deployments requiring consistent and remote data gathering.
The SEAEXPLORER system is adaptable to mission needs through its wide range of sensor payloads. These include:
- Physics: Conductivity, temperature, currents, turbidity
- Biological: Phytoplankton, zooplankton
- Acoustics: Recording, onboard processing
- Dissolved gas: O₂, CO₂, CH₄
- Others: Nitrates, metals, light penetration, oil-in-water
SEAEXPLORER X3 for Deeper & Varied Deployments
The SEAEXPLORER X3 is the latest version in the series, building on the capabilities of the SEAEXPLORER X2. The X3 features increased power efficiency, lower noise, and improved data reliability. A 1,250-meter option extends its operational range for deeper missions.
SEAEXPLORER Shallow for Coastal Operations
Designed for shallow water environments, the SEAEXPLORER Shallow glider provides reliable performance in nearshore areas. It gathers key chemical and physical data, including parameters related to marine life.
The system is fully compatible with other SEAEXPLORER models in terms of payloads, wings, and piloting, and integrates with GLIMPSE software for data management and mission control.
ALSEAMAR’s SEAEXPLORER gliders are suitable for a broad set of use cases, including:
- Environmental & marine assessments
- Governmental studies & industrial
- Oil & gas surveys
- Rapid Environmental Assessment (REA)
- Passive Acoustic Monitoring (PAM)
