Blue Marble Geographics has launched a new subscription model for its Global Mapper platform to consolidate previously separate desktop GIS applications and services into a unified workflow.
The new Global Mapper subscription is available in three tiers: Essentials, Advanced, and Professional. This restructuring builds upon the strategic combination of Blue Marble and Avenza Systems announced earlier in the year, aiming to unite complementary geospatial technologies. By bringing together its desktop applications, services, and administration, the company intends to simplify office-based geospatial workflows while connecting desktop analysis with field execution through its mobile mapping application, Avenza Maps.
The Advanced and Professional tiers expand the core Global Mapper capabilities by incorporating Geographic Calculator and MAPublisher. This integration supports a complete office workflow on a single subscription, allowing users to process raw data, perform complex datum transformations, and produce reliable, field-ready maps. The subscription also introduces over eight exclusive features, including lidar and point cloud capabilities, photogrammetry enhancements, and artificial intelligence tooling.
Administration is now centralized through the new Blue Marble Hub, which handles license management, seat assignment, downloads, support, and training. Existing customers have the option to transition to any subscription tier, with migration pathways provided for those with active Maintenance & Support contracts. Subscribers will also gain access to continuous software enhancements, a comprehensive training library, and assistance from GIS technical specialists.
Patrick Stevenson, Chief Product Officer of Blue Marble Geographics, commented, “Consolidating the office workflow into one subscription and managing it through one administrative portal reduces the complexity of how practitioners access, manage, and use the tools they rely on. Our focus is on making those workflows simpler without sacrificing the precision or capability professionals depend on, and then extending that experience more seamlessly between the office and field.”
Jeremy Parker, CEO of Blue Marble Geographics, added, “Geospatial professionals increasingly work across environments, but the technology supporting them has often remained fragmented. Our strategy is to remove those boundaries by bringing together the capabilities, expertise, and products of Blue Marble and Avenza around a common vision. Global Mapper subscription is another step in that evolution, as we build a company and platform designed around the full scope of how our customers work.”
These developments aim to support professionals across multiple industries, including AEC, energy and natural resources, and the defense and public sector, enabling them to reduce workflow complexity and maintain spatial accuracy across both office and field environments.
