AML Oceanographic’s AML-3 XC has officially joined the X2•Series instrumentation lineup as a permanent solution for maritime applications requiring high levels of operational flexibility.
The instrument originated as a custom project designed for users who needed the ability to log data internally while maintaining a real-time serial connection. Following positive feedback from initial deployments, the model was transitioned into a full-fledged member of the product family. It features an “Xtra Connector” on the end cap, utilizing available space to provide enhanced interface options.
Equipped with a charging port, a 6-pin titanium MCBH connector, and a magnetic on/off switch, the AML-3 XC is designed for diverse deployment scenarios. The bulkhead connector facilitates real-time serial communications and accepts external power input, while the magnetic switch allows for the activation of internal power during self-contained logging missions. For data management and maintenance, a USB-C port provides both battery charging and wired data transfer. The 500 m depth-rated version of the instrument also supports wireless data transfer via WiFi.
As with all AML-3 instruments, the XC model can be configured with up to three X2Change™ sensors. The hardware is available in two distinct depth ratings of 500 m and 6000 m to suit different subsea environments, including a CTDSV configuration for the deep-water 6000 m version.
