Silicon Sensing Systems Ltd has released Zenith®, a new high-performance, closed-loop single-axis MEMS accelerometer designed for critical marine applications.
Designated as the CAS150/170 series, the micro electro-mechanical systems sensor provides sustained, low-noise measurement of linear acceleration across both surface and sub-surface operations. Built with a focus on low Size, Weight, Power, and Cost (SWaP-C), the accelerometer is designed to maintain precise measurement during long-endurance tasks or fast-changing operations.
The sensor combines extremely low noise spectral density with a robust ±14g dynamic range, enabling accurate data capture in demanding conditions. Available in both in-plane (CAS150) and orthogonal (CAS170) sensing configurations, the surface-mountable unit enables engineers to achieve multi-axis measurement on a single Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA), optimizing the use of board space.
Kevin Swain, Head of Sales and Business Development at Silicon Sensing Systems Ltd, commented, “Zenith’s combination of low noise performance, robustness, compact size, low weight and cost efficiency offer clear benefits for many operations on both autonomous and manned marine platforms. In just one application – we believe Zenith has huge potential for precise heave measurement over time.”
