Maritime Robotics has secured a €28 million growth investment led by Mustard Seed + Partners (MS+PARTNERS), supporting plans to scale manufacturing and expand its product portfolio in response to growing global demand for autonomous maritime systems.
The investment also includes continued backing from existing investors EnvisionTech, Nysnø Climate Investment, and Umoe, alongside the company’s founders, employees, and early backers.
According to Maritime Robotics, both commercial and defense markets are moving beyond pilot projects toward fleet-level deployment strategies for autonomous maritime systems, changing the scale requirements of the company’s operations.
Conventional manned vessels can be constrained by high costs, safety risks, and operational inefficiencies, limiting the ability to explore, monitor, and safeguard marine environments at scale. Maritime Robotics says these challenges are contributing to a broader shift toward purpose-built unmanned and autonomous maritime systems capable of persistent, cost-efficient, and lower-risk operations.
Applications include offshore energy, hydrography, environmental monitoring, fisheries management, and maritime security and defense.
Maritime Robotics provides integrated sea drone solutions combining autonomous navigation, vessel design, and modular payload systems for mission-critical operations. The company has delivered hundreds of autonomous systems to industrial and defense customers worldwide.
Its revenue has grown nearly five-fold over the past five years and more than doubled during the past two years, reflecting what the company describes as accelerating demand for scalable, cost-efficient, safer, and lower-emission autonomous maritime systems.
Vegard Evjen Hovstein, Co-Founder & CEO of Maritime Robotics AS, commented, “We are now past the experimentation phase. Across both commercial and defense markets, we are seeing structural adoption of autonomous maritime systems, with customers shifting from pilot projects to fleet-level deployment strategies. This fundamentally changes the scale requirements of our business. This investment allows us to scale manufacturing and expand our product portfolio to meet accelerating global demand.”
MS+PARTNERS said the investment reflects its confidence in Maritime Robotics’ technology leadership, commercial traction, and distinct position across autonomy, AI, and mission-critical maritime operations.
Stanislas de Joussineau, Co-Founder & Managing Partner of MS+PARTNERS, added, “Maritime Robotics has established a leading position in maritime autonomy, with proven deployments across demanding dual-use environments. The combination of modular platform architecture, reliable autonomous navigation, and a strong operational track record creates a scalable foundation for international expansion. We are excited to partner with Vegard and the team to support the company’s next phase of growth – building a global leader in maritime autonomy.”
Existing investor EnvisionTech also highlighted MS+PARTNERS’ experience in scaling industrial technology businesses internationally as Maritime Robotics enters its next phase of expansion.
Jonas Myklebost, Investor at EnvisionTech, said, “This transaction marks an important step in the company’s scaling journey, bringing in MS+PARTNERS as a strong growth partner alongside the existing shareholder base. Their experience in scaling industrial technology businesses internationally will be highly valuable as Maritime Robotics enters its next phase of expansion.”
