Overwatch Imaging collaborated with L3Harris to conduct a two-day demonstration of its Automated Sensor Operator (ASO) software, integrated with WESCAM MX-15 and WESCAM MX-10 electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) sensor systems.
Overwatch Imaging successfully showcased ASO’s performance across various intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) scenarios. These included wide-area mapping, land and maritime surveillance, and target detection and tracking.
The demonstration featured scenario-driven test flights that showcased the ASO’s advanced capabilities. eeThe involvement and feedback from L3Harris product experts highlighted the strong collaboration between the two companies, as they work to bring cutting-edge imaging technology to domestic and international customers.
A key highlight was the smooth transition between ASO and manual modes, which bolstered confidence in the system’s ability to operate flexibly, depending on mission context.
When ASO mode was active, operators did not need to interact with the system as it autonomously gathered and processed imagery, while a quick switch to manual mode returned the system to its traditional controller-driven operation.
ASO was integrated and swapped between L3Harris’ WESCAM MX-15 and WESCAM MX-10 EO/IR systems in under an hour and delivered results immediately, demonstrating rapid re-configuration capabilities across WESCAM products.
Key Insights for Trusted Innovation
The demonstration underscored the teams’ ability to swiftly integrate new technology into a product line that has been an industry gold standard for decades. Overwatch Imaging’s ASO technology addresses critical challenges expressed by the U.S. DOD and allied partners, such as staffing shortages, data overload, the need for faster decision-making, and maintaining situational awareness in the vast Pacific theater.
With deep knowledge of the user community and trusted systems operating globally, L3Harris will be able to directly offer customers high-performance imaging capabilities on the world’s most advanced platforms across all domains.
Overwatch Imaging and L3Harris are poised to provide next-generation, AI-enabled solutions to meet user needs with speed and efficiency.
