Actisense has unveiled its new WGX-1, a versatile gateway that effortlessly bridges the gap between NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000 protocols.

New Bidirectional Gateway for Data Sharing Across Marine Electronics

The new device allows for bidirectional communication between the two standards, enhancing compatibility and data sharing across marine electronics.

Wi-Fi Streaming
The WGX-1 enables users to stream NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000 data over Wi-Fi, providing easy integration with popular boating applications like OpenCPN and TimeZero.

This functionality ensures that vital vessel information is always available, whether using wired or wireless connections.

Data Logging and Diagnostics
Equipped with a data transfer mode and an SD card slot, the WGX-1 supports extensive data logging for post-voyage analysis.

This feature is key in analyzing race data, generating logbooks, diagnosing issues, and sharing voyage details. Future updates will introduce data visualization and graphic displays, further simplifying data analysis.

Comprehensive Diagnostic Suite: Actisense-i
Included with the WGX-1 is Actisense-i, a robust NMEA diagnostic suite designed to streamline the troubleshooting process.

Actisense-i provides tools to check voltage issues and monitor the status of all devices on the network, saving both time and money by ensuring reliable electronics onboard.

User-Friendly Configuration and Versatility
The WGX-1 can be configured via its web interface, eliminating the need for a secondary device for remote setup.

This gateway is ideal for scenarios where legacy instruments need to connect to modern NMEA 2000 networks while also requiring wireless streaming capabilities.

The extensive conversion library supports a wide range of vessel data, making the WGX-1 a versatile solution for multiple scenarios.

Reliable and Secure
With the Actisense signature “Reliability Built-In,” the WGX-1 features diagnostic LEDs, an internal antenna, enhanced password security, and full certification. Housed in a rugged IP67 case, it is built to withstand the harshest marine environments.

Phil Whitehurst, CEO of Actisense, commented, “Being able to stream both NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000 over Wi-Fi means that irrespective of which industry mobile application you want to use, you will have the data you need in the format that you need it.

“There is also the great benefit of being able to configure your NMEA 2000 gateway wirelessly over a webpage, meaning the ability to do that without removing the gateway from the network. The WGX-1 packs so many features into this tiny box, we think it is the best value NMEA gateway you’ll find.”
