Since 2021, Enshore Subsea has partnered with applied acoustics to support operations across offshore renewables, oil & gas, port and harbour surveys, and UXO clearance. Read more >>
Known globally for their expertise in subsea infrastructure installation and protection, Enshore Subsea has leveraged applied acoustics’ MiniPod GNSS units to boost precision and efficiency in challenging marine environments.
Improved Tracking During Trenching Campaign
Between August and November 2024, Enshore Subsea conducted a pre-cut trenching campaign from a DP2 Support Barge, covering a 30km shallow water route. To enhance the performance of the trencher’s onboard sensor suite, a GPS pole-mounted applied acoustics MiniPod GNSS unit was installed on a 6m steel pole above the trencher. This unit operated subsea to carve a 2m deep trench in preparation for cable laying.
As the project progressed, Enshore’s survey team collaborated with applied acoustics to trial the advanced 201G MiniPod. Engineered for demanding subsea environments, the 201G features a ruggedised casing and a 75G shock rating, ideal for withstanding the high vibrations associated with trenching.
Seamless Upgrade and Reliable Performance
The 201G MiniPod was designed with identical connectors, mounting brackets, and interfacing as earlier models, allowing for a quick and disruption-free integration. Once in use, the 201G delivered stable and consistent positioning throughout the remainder of the campaign, even under tough operational conditions.
The successful deployment of the 201G helped Enshore Subsea mitigate equipment-related delays, support efficient project execution, and reaffirm their commitment to delivering dependable subsea solutions.
