The 1E2K extend also facilitates bi-directional data streaming via Ethernet. Multiple data formats can be transmitted over the Ethernet socket, allowing for the sending of NMEA 0183, RAW, Actisense NGT, and other formats, while also receiving identical data through an Ethernet connection.
This entirely eliminates concerns regarding data rates and bandwidth since Ethernet is 40-40,000 times faster than a serial connection, depending on the speed of the Ethernet.
User-Friendly Configuration
Configuring the PRO-NDC-1E2K is a simple process, due to its intuitive web-based graphical interface. This design negates the need for manual text string entries or command inputs, simplifying the setup process. The straightforward interface ensures that even individuals with limited technical knowledge can effectively manage their marine data.
Connecting to the device is equally easy. Simply link the device via Ethernet to an existing DHCP Router/Network and access the web page by entering http://prondc-xxxxxx (where x is replaced with the serial number) or the assigned IP address of the 1E2K.
Local connections can also be made by directly linking an Ethernet cable between a PC/Laptop with internet access and the 1E2K. The device supports static IP address settings, allowing the device to be fixed to one IP address that will remain unchanged.

Data Routing and Advanced Filtering
To enhance bandwidth and ensure that only pertinent data is transmitted, the PRO-NDC-1E2K includes both basic data routing and advanced sentence filtering capabilities. This feature is particularly useful in complex marine environments where multiple data sources are operational.
Basic data routing allows users to direct specific inputs to designated outputs. For instance, a GPS input can be directed solely to the N2K Port and the AIS/VHF, while being blocked from a wind instrument that has no need for the data.
Advanced filtering and routing are employed when bandwidth and data volume become critical issues. This principle operates similarly to standard routing but is applied on an individual sentence level rather than at the device level.
In this case, if five or six sentences are being sent from the GPS, but only GGA and GLL are required by the connected device, the unnecessary sentences can be blocked from being output.
This is especially useful for instruments with high output rates, such as fast heading data, which can rapidly consume serial bandwidth when sending multiple messages per second. In such instances, only one specific sentence may need to be transmitted, preventing unnecessary bandwidth consumption.
