Voyis continues to showcase cutting-edge underwater inspection capabilities in collaboration with MarineNav. In this demonstration, conducted in Ontario, Canada, the Voyis Discovery Stereo Camera is integrated with the MarineNav Oceanus Ultimate ROV for a detailed hull inspection.
The video highlights the unique capabilities of the ROV and the stereo camera system in assessing the structural integrity of a ship’s anchor chain.
The inspection took place on a vessel over 200 meters long, with a focus on critical components such as the hull and propeller. However, a key feature of this expedition was the anchor chain, which required precise and thorough examination to ensure its structural reliability.
The MarineNav Oceanus Ultimate ROV’s unique pitch capability allowed it to move vertically, making it possible to inspect every part of the chain, including where the links connect. Combined with its full six degrees of freedom, this feature enabled a comprehensive and efficient survey.
The stereo camera captured high-resolution images of the chain, focusing on identifying damage, corrosion, or areas requiring repairs. This level of detail ensures that no portion of the chain is overlooked, providing confidence in the structural integrity of this critical component.
