Voyis and CGuard will demonstrate how high-resolution underwater optical imaging can support safer and more efficient Mine Countermeasure (MCM) operations during the REPMUS 2026 exercise in Portugal.
REPMUS is an international exercise focused on demonstrating and advancing maritime uncrewed systems. It brings together NATO forces, industry, academia and technology providers to explore the use of autonomous and remotely operated platforms in underwater operations. Voyis will use the exercise to showcase capabilities combining underwater robotics with high-resolution three-dimensional (3D) imaging for maritime defence applications.
During REPMUS, the companies will demonstrate a Voyis Discovery Stereo camera system integrated with CGuard’s remotely operated vehicle (ROV) platform. The combined system is designed to provide operators with detailed optical imagery and 3D data covering underwater objects and their surrounding environments.
This information can support the identification and assessment of objects of interest while reducing the need for personnel to operate directly in potentially hazardous environments.
High-resolution optical data can complement other subsea sensors used in MCM operations. Conventional underwater inspections frequently use video feeds that provide operators with a live view but can make it difficult to assess an object’s size, shape, position and characteristics.
Voyis’ stereo imaging technology captures synchronised imagery from multiple viewpoints to generate high-resolution 3D information about the underwater environment. The resulting datasets allow objects and structures to be viewed and measured in three dimensions, supporting analysis, documentation and operator situational awareness.
At REPMUS, Voyis and CGuard will demonstrate the collection of high-resolution optical imagery and 3D data in a realistic operational environment. The integration combines CGuard’s ROV platform with Voyis’ optical perception technology to support remote MCM activities and the wider development of uncrewed, autonomous and data-driven subsea defence operations.
