As a developer and manufacturer of advanced sonar technologies for both commercial and government clients, Wavefront Systems aims to solve the problems that often come with underwater navigation, detection, and imaging. Find out more >>
Providing access to high-resolution imagery and the ability to illuminate underwater environments worldwide, the company’s proven proven side-scan and forward-looking sonar solutions are suitable for a broad range of applications, including protection and intruder detection for:
- Critical infrastructure and assets
- Military and civilian ports and harbors
- Waterside installations and buildings
- Private and commercial yachts and vessels
Most recently, Wavefront’s multi-head passive Sentinel IDS (intruder detection sonar) sonar capability completed the latest round of its proving trials, not long after a similarly successful demonstration of the company’s Simultaneous In-band Active & Passive Sonar (SInAPS).
The Sentinel IDS latest edition is designed to build on its earlier — and already impressive — models. Both passive and active capabilities can be delivered from the same sonar head, and with multiple heads, Sentinel can accurately geolocate and track targets like divers and vessels both on the surface and beneath it.
Further recent achievements include the first batch shipment of one of the company’s forward looking sonar models, the Vigilant FLS 600. Delivered for installation into both crewed and uncrewed platforms, the Vigilant is a compact system designed for navigation and obstacle avoidance.
Not only that, the Vigilant FLS 600 can operate in 3D and sonar mode with a 120 degree field of view on all range scales, including at ranges in excess of 20 times the prevailing water depth up to a maximum of 600m around and 100m deep.
Wavefront also produces a multi-aperture and side-scan sonar — the Solstice MAS — for low power consumption HD imaging, and has developed an integrity monitoring sonar — the Sentry IMS — for fast automated warning of containment issues in subsea oil, gas, and other infrastructure or equipment.
