The Vigilant family of forward-looking sonars provides critical underwater situational awareness and obstacle avoidance capabilities for uncrewed and crewed surface vessels and underwater vehicles. Providing real-time 3D imagery of the seabed and water column at ranges of up to 1500 metres, the advanced sonars automatically alert operators or automated systems to collision hazards and grounding obstructions, ensuring safe voyage even in uncharted or highly dynamic environments.
Vigilant sonars feature two different modes of operation – 3D and sonar mode. 3D mode uses bathymetry and colour-coded depth imagery to create a 3D terrain map of the seabed and water column ahead out to 600 m and down to 100 m, while sonar mode extracts long-range positional data, providing customizable automated alarms to warn of hazards and obstacles up to 1.5 km ahead with a 120-degree field of view.
Vigilant sonars are ideal for new-build vessels as well as retrofitting, and are available in three variants. Vigilant 600 is designed for space-constrained applications and features a combined projector/receiver design, while Vigilant 1000 and 1500 models utilize a separate projector and a receiver array that can be mounted in the bulb, alongside in a tube or on a retractable deployment pole.
