voxeljet outlines its High Speed Sintering (HSS) technology as a polymer 3D printing solution that supports functional prototypes, small series production, and volume manufacturing.
The process enables the production of functional components using materials including PA12, PP, TPU, PEBA, and EVA, and is positioned as an alternative to injection molding, including for small components and parts with complex geometries. It delivers high productivity and precise edge definition, with voxeljet’s large-format, high-speed printers designed to improve efficiency and enable economical operation across production volumes.

Greyscale Control & Material Flexibility
HSS applies heat-reactive binders with pixel-level accuracy. As a laser-free polymer sintering method, the technology combines the advantages of polymer sintering with higher production speed, a broader range of compatible materials, and optimum surface quality.
A central feature of the process is its greyscale capability, which allows material properties to be adjusted within a single part. Mechanical strength, elasticity, and density can be varied in three dimensions, enabling optimization of characteristics such as weight, ergonomics, and center of gravity. The process also supports the production of complex geometries, including lattice structures and interlinked components, while maintaining functional performance.
voxeljet’s HSS systems are compatible with a range of polymers, with polyamide 12 as a standard material and PP, TPU, PEBA, and EVA available depending on requirements. Parts produced using the process can undergo post-processing, including coloring and surface finishing.
Dr. Sylvia Monsheimer, Head of Market Segment New 3D Printing Technologies, EVONIK, said, “We process various materials with our VX200 HSS: from PA 12 and PA 613 to PEBA. The HighSpeed Sintering Technology from voxeljet enables us to perfectly optimize the interaction between material and machine in order to develop the best possible material combination for the products of the future.”
Scalable Systems & Production Integration
voxeljet provides HSS systems designed for both development and industrial environments. The VX200 HSS is suited to research and development, offering open software and individual programming of all process parameters, enabling a high level of precision in the printing process and material.
For production applications, the VX1000 HSS is designed for continuous industrial use, with large format, high throughput, and automation capability. This supports its use in series manufacturing as an alternative to conventional plastic processing methods.
The company also supports users across the additive manufacturing workflow, including system selection, material qualification, and process integration. Access to 3D printing services allows parts to be tested and optimized prior to hardware investment. Material development is supported through voxeljet’s Material Certification Lab and collaboration with partners, with ongoing work to expand the range of compatible materials.
