Cetasol has introduced an enhanced version of the Onboard Captain Display, featuring a refined design and expanded functionality.
This update aims to optimize vessel performance, improve real-time operational control, and support more efficient fuel usage.
About iHelm
iHelm is Cetasol’s flagship AI-powered optimization system that goes beyond simple visualization. It delivers actionable insights for maritime operators by automatically modeling vessel operations to support energy efficiency, cost reduction, and sustainability.
The system comprises three main components:
- Cetasol Main Unit (CMU): Installed onboard and connected to the engine, it collects and transmits data via a global IoT network.
- Captain Display: Offers captains real-time operational guidance and feedback.
- Cloud Dashboard: Provides management with insights, reports, and metrics to support strategic decision-making.
Using real-time and historical data, iHelm builds accurate models within hours to inform operational, engine, and component efficiency.
Captain Display 2.0
The latest version of the Captain Display introduces a new start/stop button, allowing users to track performance over specific voyages or time segments. Core functionalities remain, including destination and target time selection, along with operation mode settings. The interface now includes alarms and indicators to enhance situational awareness.
Two new gauges, Speed Gauge and Fuel Gauge, have been added to provide operators with a more detailed view of vessel efficiency.
Smarter Operational Insights
- The Speed Gauge allows captains to understand how speed adjustments influence fuel efficiency and estimated time of arrival. By integrating AI and past voyage data, it delivers refined recommendations to support better planning and execution.
- The Fuel Gauge presents real-time fuel usage and benchmarks it against expected consumption. It also highlights fuel consumption per nautical mile, helping operators track variations across different voyages.
Customizable metric cards, such as Fuel Now, CO₂ Emissions Now, and CO₂ Emissions per Leg, allow users to tailor their dashboards according to operational priorities.
Modes for Different Operations
To address varying operational needs, the Captain Display includes two distinct modes:
- Non-Repeatable Mode: Designed for vessels with irregular or varying routes, offering general performance feedback.
- Repeatable Mode: Suited for consistent operations like ferries, using historical data to optimize for safety and efficiency.
Refined Control for Informed Decisions
With improved gauges and interface elements, the updated Captain Display enhances visibility into real-time vessel performance. Operators can make more informed decisions to manage fuel consumption, reduce emissions, and meet scheduling goals.
Advancing Maritime Efficiency
The update offers tangible tools for improving vessel operations. From real-time efficiency monitoring to customized metrics and tailored operational modes, the new features are designed to support captains and fleet managers in achieving operational and environmental targets.
Cetasol continues its commitment to innovation, with further updates planned to expand functionality and improve maritime control systems.
