Saab UK Validates Electric ROV Performance in Inland Water Trials

Saab UK’s next-generation all-electric work-class remotely operated vehicle, the Seaeye SR20 eWROV, has successfully completed a comprehensive programme of inland water trials.

The testing marked a key step in the SR20’s development and formed part of its verification and validation programme. During the trials, the vehicle was assessed against specification requirements, with testing used to measure its capabilities and stress the ROV as a complete system.

The SR20 demonstrated manoeuvrability, precise pilot control and stable operation, providing further validation of its electric architecture and integrated control systems. Development of the SR20 draws on 40 years of experience with Saab’s Seaeye ROVs, which have supported subsea operations across a range of applications.

Jon Robertson, Seaeye Managing Director at Saab UK, said, “These successful water trials bring us another step closer to delivering a new platform for the subsea industry. The SR20 combines the performance and reliability operators expect from Seaeye systems, with a fully electric architecture designed to support a range of operational requirements, including resident and remote operations.”

Following the inland water trials, the SR20 programme will move into its next testing phase as development continues toward planned delivery and operational deployment.
