The Gemini 1200id sonar from Tritech, enhances work class ROV operations with high-resolution imaging, advanced noise reduction, dual-frequency capability, and improved target clarity for critical underwater tasks.

Built on the same robust platforms as the standard Gemini 720is sonar, the Gemini 1200id is a multi-beam sonar that operates at two acoustic frequencies, offering improved attenuation of waterborne electrical noise for maximum imaging performance.

The Gemini 1200id features a wide 120° horizontal field of view at both 720 kHz and 1200 kHz acoustic frequencies. An integrated speed-of-sound sensor enhances positional accuracy, ensuring precise target display. While CHIRP processing improves target separation over longer ranges.

Tritech’s Genesis software package is fully compatible with the 1200id, allowing users to control multiple Tritech products for better user interaction. Software development kits (SDKs) are available for Windows and Linux operating systems.

The Gemini 1200id achieves advanced imaging performance with an in-house developed analogue front-end solution that incorporates fully differential receiver channels for enhanced acoustic reception. Optimized internal circuits and additional filtering minimize self-generated noise. The sonar also actively reduces external interference from nearby subsea equipment.

The Gemini 1200id’s enhancements result in a noise-reduced background with sharp and bright acoustic returns, producing sonar images of impressive clarity and crispness.

Bruce Hardy, Sales and Marketing Director at Tritech, commented, “We are really pleased to bring the new dual frequency Gemini 1200id to market. Having listened to our customers’ requests for higher definition and enhanced target resolution we believe the new 1200 kHz acoustic frequency will provide just that, along with Tritech’s reputation for quality and reliability, backed by our 3-year guarantee.”

Asim Azad, Hardware Engineering Manager at Tritech, also stated, “With its ultra-low-noise differential analogue front-end supporting a wide dynamic range optimised for sonar imaging applications, and with its ability to actively attenuate waterborne electrical noise from other subsea equipment, the Gemini 1200id provides work class ROV operators the clarity and confidence necessary for mission critical operations.”
