Sea-Bird Scientific has released the newest iteration of optical oceanography with their cutting-edge ECO V2 Series.

The ECO V2 series delivers 16-bit resolution and improved signal-to-noise performance across up to four channels, covering environments from open ocean to coastal waters with a wide dynamic range.

Designed for biological monitoring and dye trace studies, ECO V2 features a durable potted optics block for long-term stability and optional anti-biofouling technology for extended, accurate deployments.

With a range of configuration options, the system supports high-quality data collection across diverse aquatic conditions. It can operate as a standalone unit or integrate with platforms like gliders for expanded measurement capabilities.

Updated UCI software for both PC and Mac, along with new user manuals, will be released by the end of April 2025.

Key Features:

  • High Dynamic Range: One range that covers all natural waters, requiring fewer sensors to provide more data.
  • User-friendly Software: Compatible with both Windows and Mac.
  • System in a Sensor: The 4-measurement sensor option delivers versatility and cost savings.
  • Better Data Logging: Wider dynamic range, increased resolution, and data-handling speeds.
  • Extended Deployments: Optional integrated battery packs and anti-fouling technologies up to 6000 meters.
  • FDOM Sensitivity: 5x more sensitive FDOM measurement.
  • Consistently Accurate Data: Onboard quality assessment and quality control (QA/QC).
  • Extended Battery Life: New battery pack option that is interchangeable with the SBE 37.

Discover how the ECO V2 offers an impressive dynamic range, seamlessly transitioning from the deep blue ocean to coastal waters. With 16-bit resolution and enhanced signal-to-noise ratios across up to four channels, this series is a game-changer for biological monitoring and dye trace studies.
