Epson quartz gyro sensors, supplied by AMCORIS, provide precise angular velocity measurements for positioning, stabilization, and navigation systems in surface and subsea robotic vehicles and equipment.
The sensors use a double-T quartz crystal sensing element to deliver stable angular rate outputs, offering stability levels that rival those of more expensive high-end gyroscope technologies. The sensors feature compact dimensions and digital interfaces, with integrated filtering available across the range.
AMCORIS offers a selection of industrial and automotive-grade Epson gyro sensors, including single-axis gyroscopes and a combined gyroscope and accelerometer.
Industrial Quartz Gyro Sensors
The Epson XV7021BB, XV7081BB, and XV7181BB are compact industrial gyro sensors designed for angular rate measurement in a range of industrial and robotic applications.
All three models measure 5.0 × 3.2 × 1.3 mm and offer a typical bias of ±1°/s at +25°C, angle random walk (ARW) of 0.065°/√h, and SPI or I²C digital interfaces.
The models offer different features for specific applications:
- XV7021BB: Designed for ultra-low-power operation in battery-powered and portable systems, with a ±400°/s angular rate measurement range.
- XV7081BB: Features integrated filtering and a ±400°/s measurement range, with applications including motion control in industrial equipment, autonomous machines, and robotic systems.
- XV7181BB: Designed for industrial attitude control applications, offering a wide operating temperature range, built-in temperature sensor, selectable digital filters, and ±115°/s or ±460°/s measurement ranges.
Automotive-Grade Gyro Sensors
For navigation and safety-related systems, AMCORIS also supplies the Epson XV4311BD and XC1011SD automotive-grade sensors.
The XV4311BD is a single-axis quartz yaw-rate sensor featuring a double-T sensing element, SafeSPI interface, and built-in diagnostics. It provides a typical bias instability of 0.9°/h and an ARW of 0.065°/√h, with applications as a heading reference for Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS)/Inertial Navigation System (INS) navigation. Measuring 5.0 × 3.2 × 1.3 mm, the XV4311BD offers ±115°/s or ±460°/s rate ranges and is qualified to AEC-Q100.
The XC1011SD combines a yaw-rate gyroscope with a two-axis accelerometer in a compact, low-power package. Featuring Epson’s double-T quartz crystal structure, the sensor incorporates built-in diagnostics and provides SPI digital output. It is designed for automotive safety applications, including electronic stability control, and is compliant with AEC-Q100 and ISO 26262 (ASIL D).
