Self-contained and fully automated, the system enhances vessel traffic services (VTS) through continuous updates on conditions such as wind, temperature, tide, and current flow.

AVOS: Automated Data Reporting from Ships of Opportunity

AXYS also plays a key role in global climate and ocean monitoring through the Automatic Voluntary Observing Ship System (AVOS). Designed with support from Environment Canada, AVOS equips VOS program vessels with fully automated weather observation capabilities, enabling them to contribute high-quality data to global climate datasets without burdening crew resources.

The system supports auto-coded FM 13-X1 reporting to VOSCLIM standards and features an intuitive touchscreen interface for optional manual inputs such as wave state, ice presence, or cloud characteristics. By automating both data collection and formatting, AVOS reduces reporting error and streamlines contributions to national and international observation programs.
