The Model 503 CTD sensor features a cylindrical form factor with integrated electronics, providing stable measurement of conductivity, temperature, salinity, density, and depth. The sensor includes a bottom cable entry with a permanently attached potted cable pigtail, delivering a sealed and robust connection suited to long-term deployments and mobile platforms. Its two-part construction incorporates a shroud that can be adapted to different hull diameters, with the standard configuration designed for a 7.5-inch diameter hull.
The Model 503 includes an integrated pressure sensor for depth measurement and supports multiple cable options, including SubConn variants. Standard potted cable lengths are available, with extended lengths offered as a special order. The sensor is calibrated for standard (0 to 40°C) or extended (-5 to 60°C) temperature ranges, with conductivity measurement up to 60 mS/cm, ensuring suitability across a wide range of oceanographic conditions.
