TRAPS – USV is an ultra-compact, towed sonar system optimized for operation from Uncrewed Surface Vessels (USVs) and other small naval platforms. Part of GeoSpectrum’s TRAPS (Towed Reelable Active Passive Sonar) family, this variant delivers full-spectrum ASW capability—combining active and passive submarine and torpedo detection—in a format engineered for vessels as small as 12 meters.
The system’s innovative reelable vertical source eliminates the need for a dedicated overboarding structure, offering unmatched deployment efficiency while minimizing vessel footprint. A modular design and lightweight configuration allow for simplified integration on patrol vessels, OPVs, and corvettes.
Like its full-sized counterparts, TRAPS – USV features advanced sonar control and distributed processing, supporting seamless incorporation into broader undersea warfare suites. Capable of tracking multiple underwater threats and resolving directional ambiguities, it empowers naval and maritime defense forces with real-time situational awareness.
The system accommodates interchangeable sonar frequencies—including VLF, LF, MF, and HF—with blades that can be swapped at sea in under 30 minutes, adapting the platform’s acoustic signature to mission-specific requirements. With containerized, organic, and USV-based configurations available, TRAPS – USV extends high-performance ASW to previously inaccessible platforms.
