TRAPS from GeoSpectrum Technologies is a modular, variable-depth active/passive sonar system engineered for high-performance anti-submarine warfare (ASW) across a range of maritime platforms.
Its compact, reelable design allows for integration on frigates, corvettes, offshore patrol vessels (OPVs), and uncrewed surface vehicles (USVs) in containerized, organic, or uncrewed configurations. TRAPS delivers robust acoustic surveillance without the need for a dedicated launch and recovery system, enhancing fleet flexibility and reducing operational overhead.
The system’s innovative transducer supports rapid onboard interchange of active source blades, covering a frequency range of 2–10 kHz to tailor acoustic profiles to mission-specific environments. Paired with directional receive arrays and a high source level of 216 dB re 1 µPa at 1 m, TRAPS offers extended-range detection (up to 150 km), precise tracking, and classification of underwater threats.
GeoSpectrum’s RecView processing software provides intuitive analysis tools for real-time detection, ambiguity resolution, and multi-target monitoring. Operating at depths up to 300 meters and tow speeds exceeding 17 knots, TRAPS delivers high-capability performance across diverse tactical scenarios.
