Boreas A70 & A90

The Boreas A70 and A90 from Advanced Navigation are rugged FOG IMU/AHRS systems suited to marine and offshore applications that require dependable heading and orientation without continuous GNSS availability. Digital fibre optic gyroscopes, closed-loop accelerometers, and AI-based sensor fusion enable north-seeking gyrocompassing without reliance on magnetometers. Both variants provide 2-minute coarse gyrocompassing, 1000 Hz output, IP67 protection, and operation from -40 °C to 75 °C. Their 9–36 V input range and 12 W typical power consumption support integration into marine platforms where space, weight, power, and cost are important design considerations. Full INS functionality can also be added with external GNSS aiding.

For subsea navigation, hydrography, and offshore positioning workflows, the A70 provides 0.01° roll and pitch accuracy, 0.1° heading accuracy, and 0.01°/hr gyroscope bias instability, while the A90 improves these figures to 0.005°, 0.01°, and 0.001°/hr respectively. Both systems support Ethernet, RS232/RS422, CAN, 1PPS, GPIO, and auxiliary RS232 connectivity, together with DVL/USBL, NMEA, odometer, air data, zero-velocity, and external GNSS inputs. Heave accuracy is 2% or 0.02 m, whichever is greater, while GNSS-aided configurations support 0.01 m horizontal and 0.015 m vertical position accuracy.
