Ultra Maritime has demonstrated an advanced acoustic sensing capability to detect and classify Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) during the U.S. Navy’s 2026 Lanternfish exercise.

Operating in a realistic port protection scenario, the company’s Sea Spear deployable sonar solution enabled naval evaluators to observe emerging undersea technologies under true operational conditions. During the exercise, the system consistently detected, tracked, and classified medium- and large-diameter unmanned underwater vehicles while transmitting continuous track data to undersea command centers globally.

The demonstration marks a key milestone in a strategic partnership between Ultra Maritime and Anduril aimed at accelerating covert anti-submarine warfare and maritime defense solutions. When integrated with Anduril’s Seabed Sentry, Sea Spear creates a distributed autonomous undersea network engineered for scalable production and rapid deployment across maritime choke points, remote operational areas, and critical waterways.

Designed to be deployed clandestinely from both manned and unmanned platforms, the system can function as either a permanent installation or an attritable asset based on mission parameters. As underwater threats proliferate, the technology provides naval forces with a flexible, cost-effective method to scale continuous acoustic sensing across contested maritime environments.
