Elbit Systems will present its unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) capabilities for the first time at Euronaval 2026, marking the formal expansion of the defense company’s maritime autonomy portfolio into the underwater domain.

The entry into subsea robotics follows the acquisition of International Submarine Engineering Ltd. (ISE), an established developer of autonomous underwater systems that has delivered more than 250 vehicles to customers in over 20 countries. Drawing on four decades of developing operational autonomous platforms across air, land, and sea, the company has operated mature unmanned naval systems with international customers for more than a decade.

At Euronaval 2026, the newly integrated subsea solutions will be showcased alongside the Seagull family of Unmanned Surface Vessels (USVs) and complementary naval portfolio systems. This vertically integrated architecture links surface and underwater autonomous platforms into coordinated formations, supporting combined mission planning, execution, and launch and recovery operations, while expanding options for manned-unmanned teaming (MUM-T) concepts.

The UUV portfolio includes modular Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) engineered for long-endurance missions. The platforms are designed to address a variety of operational tasks, including intelligence gathering, mine countermeasure (MCM) operations, anti-submarine warfare (ASW), seabed mapping, and the protection of strategic assets and critical maritime infrastructure. Payloads can be tailored with mission-specific sensors, sonars, and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) systems.

“Navies are increasingly looking for comprehensive autonomous solutions for complex maritime missions,” said Oren Sabag, General Manager of Elbit Systems ISTAR & EW. “The addition of UUV capabilities further expands our autonomous maritime portfolio and strengthens our ability to provide customers with a holistic operational solution spanning surface and underwater autonomous systems, payloads and mission management capabilities.”

By incorporating subsea robotics, surface platforms, sensors, communications, and autonomous mission management into a unified network, the company aims to support modern naval operations and address shifting maritime security challenges.
