Discover World-Leading Technologies for Ocean Science
Discover cutting-edge solutions from leading global suppliersRBR has expanded its instrument family with the introduction of the RBRduraturo⁴, a high-capacity platform designed for long-term and high-frequency measurement campaigns.

The new instrument utilizes a larger 100mm form factor to overcome common power and memory limitations in underwater research. Powered by six D-cell batteries of any chemistry, the housing supports the endurance required for extended deployments even when operating at high sampling rates. This design is paired with what the company describes as “effectively infinite” memory, allowing researchers to focus on data collection rather than storage management.
The RBRduraturo⁴ is available in three primary models: the RBRduraturo⁴ T for temperature, the RBRduraturo⁴ D for pressure, and the RBRduraturo⁴ T.D for combined temperature and depth. While standard models support sampling up to 2Hz, optional feature sets including fast32, tide32, and wave32 enable specialized tide and wave modes at frequencies up to 32Hz.
Technical flexibility is a core feature of the new platform, allowing for independent sampling regimes across different sensors. This capability enables a user to sample temperature at one rate while collecting pressure data at another, optimizing power usage without sacrificing the quality of the specific data required for the study.
The instrument is operated via a robust twist activation system and features USB-C connectivity for fast data recovery. This high-speed transfer is essential for the large datasets generated during long deployments monitoring wave dynamics, tides, or environmental changes. The RBRduraturo⁴ is intended to open new research opportunities by providing the capacity for more frequent measurements over longer periods.
