Managed business-critical digital solutions provider Marlink has launched a new operational technology (OT) security offering aimed at protecting maritime and land-based industrial operations from increasing cyber threats.

As physical processes across ocean and terrestrial sectors become increasingly connected, remote access and physical connections like removable devices leave previously isolated equipment exposed to severe cyber risks. Operational technology environments control vital systems across multiple domains, including vessel navigation, propulsion, and cargo handling at sea; energy production, water treatment, and industrial automation on land; as well as building management, HVAC, and physical access control within data centres and enterprise facilities. Unaddressed vulnerabilities in these environments can lead to severe operational disruptions that jeopardize safety, environmental stability, and business continuity.

To mitigate these exposures, the new service suite integrates professional services with OT-native technology solutions powered by the Marlink Possibility Platform. The platform provides continuous, passive monitoring to identify connected assets, map network communications, and detect anomalous activity, while automated safeguards work to contain active threats without interrupting essential processes. Similar vulnerabilities exist across land-based and remote facilities where converging IT and OT environments demand proactive detection and containment to guarantee ongoing operational resilience.

Beyond operational protection, the unified offering assists organizations in meeting stringent sector-specific regulatory standards. The solution helps maritime operators comply with IACS UR E26—with Marlink’s own onboard systems developed in accordance with IACS UR E27—while aiding land-based entities in addressing NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) standards, the EU’s NIS2 Directive, and ISA/IEC 62443 guidelines for industrial automation and control systems.
