3D Seismic Survey to Assess Bonaparte Basin Carbon Storage

Shearwater Geoservices AS has been awarded a contract to conduct a 3D seismic survey assessing the carbon storage potential of the Bonaparte Basin in northern Australia.

Scheduled to commence in the third quarter of 2026, the project will be carried out by the SW Bly and is expected to last 50 days. The geophysical data collected will be used to high-grade and define locations for future injection wells, as well as provide a baseline for possible future 4D seismic monitoring.

The campaign will be Shearwater’s second carbon capture and storage-related survey in the Bonaparte Basin, following a similar project in 2024, reinforcing the company’s presence in the regional CCS market.
