Pioneer DVL

The Pioneer DVL from Teledyne RD Instruments is a 150 kHz phased-array Doppler Velocity Log engineered to deliver accurate velocity measurements at altitudes up to 500 meters above the seabed. This capability supports reliable navigation across varying ocean depths, enabling smooth transition from deep offshore environments to shallow littoral zones. Designed for integration across a wide range of subsea platforms, the system accommodates vehicles from compact 12-inch-class units through to large manned submersibles and surface vessels.

Built with advanced electronics and proven signal processing, the Pioneer DVL offers dependable bottom tracking even in complex or uncertain terrain. Its broadband velocity processing and single-ping bottom detection enhance measurement confidence, while low power consumption supports long-duration deployments. Flexible triggering, time-of-validity output for precise INS synchronization, and optional real-time current profiling expand its functionality, making it suitable for AUVs, ROVs, towed systems, and crewed platforms operating in demanding marine conditions.
