UniLux is a range of compact, robust and highly sensitive miniature fluorometers for cost-effective monitoring of algae, cyanobacteria, fluorescent dyes and turbidity. Individual sensor configurations use selected fluorescence excitation and emission wavelengths to detect and quantify chlorophyll-a, phycocyanin, phycoerythrin or turbidity, including small changes at very low concentrations.
The system-agnostic sensors can be integrated with CTD instruments, data buoys, monitoring stations, surface vehicles, AUVs and ROVs. Real-time data can be accessed through the host platform or Chelsea Technologies’ Sensor Monitor software. The compact titanium housing is rated for operation in fresh or salt water at depths of up to 2,000 meters.
UniLux supports biological assessment across ocean science, water treatment and wider blue economy applications. It is particularly suited to the monitoring, control and prevention of harmful algal blooms. Low power requirements, straightforward integration, minimal maintenance and a two-year calibration interval make it ideal for long-term deployments.
