LabSTAF is a next-generation Single Turnover Active Fluorometry system for evaluating phytoplankton primary productivity in environmental monitoring, scientific research and commercial cultivation applications. Its high dynamic range supports measurements in conditions ranging from extreme oligotrophic environments through to mesotrophic and some eutrophic waters.
The robust portable system incorporates a solenoid valve unit, peristaltic pump and Windows-based RunSTAF software. It is ideal for a wide range of experimental setups, from direct manual control to highly automated unattended operation, providing real-time analysis and straightforward access to primary data with minimal intervention.
LabSTAF uses dual-waveband measurement and LED wavebands to generate Photochemical Excitation Profiles, with correction for baseline fluorescence helping to maintain sensitivity and reduce errors. Suitable for research vessels and outdoor locations, the system provides an efficient way to scale up in-situ productivity measurements alongside traditional carbon-14 bottle-incubation surveys.
