In collaboration with OST, Applied Acoustics is highlighting its technology portfolio, which enables the precise tracking, release, and positioning of subsea assets. Designed and developed in the UK, the company’s systems are built to perform in challenging environments, from shallow water aquaculture sites to deep offshore oil and gas fields.
Ultra Short Baseline Tracking Solutions
Applied Acoustics’ Easytrak USBL systems provide reliable underwater tracking for multiple simultaneous assets, including divers, AUVs, ROVs, and towfish. Each system features integrated pitch, roll, and heading sensors to account for vessel movement, helping maintain accurate positioning across a range of operating scenarios.
Precision Acoustic Beacons for Navigation & Recovery
The company’s subsea positioning beacons are compatible with most industry-standard tracking systems, balancing power output, battery life, and form factor. Supporting both shallow and deep-water use, the beacons operate as transponders, responders, or pingers—enabling flexible deployment configurations.
Applied Acoustics also manufactures acoustic release beacons, designed to enable the deployment and recovery of subsea instrumentation. With FSK command protocols and robust mechanical release mechanisms, the systems ensure dependable performance in noisy or biofouling-prone environments.
Sub-Bottom Profiling Systems
Applied Acoustics’ modular sub-bottom profiling systems produce high-resolution 2D imagery of seabed geology using seismic energy sources and hydrophones. The systems are suitable for use across a range of seabed conditions and water depths, providing critical data for geophysical survey, UXO detection, and infrastructure planning.
Surface Positioning with Submersible GNSS Receivers
Applied Acoustics’ MiniPod submersible GNSS receivers provide surface-level positional accuracy for submerged assets once they break the surface. Built to endure the splash zone, these rugged units support tracking and positioning of AUVs, ROVs, and towed systems during operations such as seismic data collection or environmental inspection.
