Belgium-based GEOxyz, a specialist in offshore surveying, significantly upgraded its geophysical and topographical survey capabilities through the integration of advanced positioning technology from applied acoustics. Find out more > >
Operating primarily in the North Sea and the Baltics, GEOxyz provides comprehensive hydrographic, geophysical, geotechnical, and topographical survey services for the renewable energy and oil and gas sectors.
With a strategy focused on complete asset ownership, GEOxyz operates its own vessels and fixed survey crews, ensuring tight control over quality and reliability. As survey requirements have become increasingly complex and demanding in terms of range and precision, the company recognized the need to modernize its equipment to maintain high standards of data accuracy and client satisfaction.
Following a period of equipment rental and evaluation, GEOxyz conducted an in-depth comparison of available technologies. The company ultimately selected Applied Acoustics’ Nexus 2 USBL positioning system, paired with 2780 directional transceivers, as the optimal solution to meet its operational needs.
Since implementation, the Nexus 2 system has delivered improved data reliability and stability across GEOxyz’s survey operations. The system’s ease of integration and intuitive interface allowed for swift training of onboard personnel, minimizing downtime and maximizing survey efficiency. The improved accuracy has also reduced the need for data verification or client clarification, streamlining project delivery.
In addition to the performance gains, the availability of round-the-clock remote support has proved invaluable for offshore missions. Initial setup issues were quickly resolved by Applied Acoustics engineers, and the system has since operated smoothly without further technical intervention.
With another order of 1113H beacons currently being delivered, GEOxyz continues to expand its capabilities, reinforcing its commitment to providing precise and reliable offshore survey data using advanced acoustic technology.
