NORBIT Subsea’s compact WINGHEAD® i77h is an ultra-high-resolution curved array sonar system designed for bathymetric and construction surveys, as well as surveys conducted by uncrewed surface vehicles (USVs).
The system’s small form factor, lightweight design, and low power consumption make it suitable for installation on a range of platforms, from small USVs to permanent hull mounts on larger vessels. Survey efficiency is further supported through NORBIT’s DCT integrated data acquisition software.
The system is tightly integrated with the Applanix OceanMaster GNSS/INS, providing precise positioning in challenging conditions such as under bridges or in rough seas.
Sonar Capabilities
The WINGHEAD i77h provides 0.5 × 0.9-degree beam width for ultra-high-resolution data. It uses a true 1024 beams beamformer for precise results and delivers reliable performance through industry-leading acoustic robustness.
Integrated GNSS/INS technology ensures accurate positioning, while real-time sound velocity measurement supports dependable depth accuracy. A dedicated pipeline mode optimizes the system for pipeline and cable inspection. The compact and lightweight design allows for easy deployment and transport.
The WINGHEAD series is reportedly the first cylindrical ultra-high-resolution curved array bathymetric system. Built on a modern analogue and digital platform with advanced signal processing, it supports rapid mobilization and high-performance survey operations. Each system delivers roll-stabilized bathymetry, high-quality imagery, and backscatter outputs.
Applications include:
- Shallow water bathymetry
- Pipeline and cable inspection surveys
- Quay wall, bridge, and structure inspection surveys
- Pond, river, and estuary surveys
- Harbour and lake surveys
- USV and UUV operations
- Coastal surveys
The NORBIT WINGHEAD i77h multibeam sonar system provides accurate and consistent survey data in a wide range of operational environments.
