MetOcean Telematics, a leader in satellite telemetry and maritime monitoring solutions, has launched the Infinity-iF, an advanced submersible beacon developed under the NOVATECH™ brand.
Designed specifically for the demands of full-ocean-depth missions, the Infinity-iF delivers advanced tracking and communication capabilities to support the precise recovery of valuable subsea assets in ocean science, offshore energy, and defense applications.
Capable of operating at depths of up to 11,000 meters, the Infinity-iF is purpose-built for use in the most extreme marine environments. Once deployed, the beacon uses a bidirectional Iridium® Short Burst Data (SBD) transceiver to relay its position anywhere in the world via satellite after surfacing. Its integrated GNSS receiver ensures pinpoint global positioning, while a high-intensity LED flasher housed in a hemispherical polycarbonate dome provides 360-degree visibility and is detectable from up to 5 nautical miles away—critical for visual recovery operations in low-light or rough-sea conditions.
The Infinity-iF supports multiple power configurations, including CR123 or D-cell lithium/alkaline batteries and external power options, allowing operators to tailor the system to specific mission profiles. Upon reaching the surface, the beacon activates automatically using a combination of GNSS, resistive, and conductive surface sensors, ensuring consistent operation regardless of water conditions or orientation. With its titanium Grade 5 housing and epoxy-sealed electronics, the beacon is engineered for maximum durability, corrosion resistance, and long-term field performance.
Tony Chedrawy, CEO of MetOcean Telematics, said, “The Infinity-iF is an important addition to our subsea technology lineup. It delivers dependable performance with Iridium tracking, global geolocation, and a high-visibility LED flasher – supporting our customers in protecting critical equipment and data across a wide range of marine applications.”
This next-generation beacon is ideal for locating and retrieving a wide range of submerged assets, including moorings, seabed sensor arrays, and autonomous underwater vehicles. It also enhances the recovery of drifting buoys and other surface-deployed instruments by broadcasting real-time position data and activating its flasher upon surfacing. In the event of mooring failure or equipment displacement, the Infinity-iF significantly reduces search time and operational costs by providing immediate location data and reliable visual cues.
With the introduction of the Infinity-iF, MetOcean Telematics is reaffirming its commitment to developing resilient, field-proven telemetry technologies that support the global ocean science and maritime operations community.
