All Too Clear is a compelling documentary examining the impact of invasive quagga mussels on the Great Lakes while offering remarkable scientific insights.
Produced by Inspired Planet Productions, the film’s underwater footage was exclusively captured using the Boxfish Luna underwater drone developed by Boxfish Robotics.
The video below highlights the cutting-edge technology featured in All Too Clear.
Over two years, filmmakers Yvonne Drebert and Zach Melnick dedicated more than 150 days to exploring the depths of the Great Lakes, capturing stunning footage with the Boxfish Luna underwater drone.
Operating with just a two-person surface team and no divers, the drone enabled dives lasting up to 15 hours and reaching depths of 500 meters. This capability captured unprecedented fish behavior, including what is reported to be the first-ever footage of lake whitefish spawning in their natural habitat.
In addition to documenting the underwater impacts of quagga mussels, the team made an extraordinary discovery—the wreck of the steamer Africa, lost since 1895.
By leveraging the advanced capabilities of the Boxfish Luna, the filmmakers redefined the exploration of the Great Lakes.
