Teledyne Marine has completed the delivery of the first four GAVIA Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) systems to the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration.
The handover is part of a multi-year framework agreement between Teledyne Marine and the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV). These systems are intended to support fleet modernization initiatives for the Swedish Armed Forces, specifically focusing on the enhancement of underwater surveillance capabilities and the improvement of operational efficiency.
The GAVIA AUVs utilize a modular architecture that allows the Swedish military to rapidly reconfigure the vehicles for a diverse range of mission profiles. These include mine countermeasures, hydrography, intelligence collection, seabed mapping, and general surveillance.
George Bobb, President and Chief Executive Officer, “As the maritime battlespace evolves, including risks to critical subsea infrastructure, Teledyne’s autonomous underwater systems provide low-cost and long duration subsea surveillance. In addition to complete air, land and subsea unmanned systems, Teledyne provides a wide range of imaging subsystems and software for our customers’ unmanned aerial vehicles, counter-unmanned aircraft systems and maritime autonomous surface vessels.”
Teledyne Marine maintains a significant presence in the unmanned systems market, having delivered over 12,000 APEX floats and 1,275 Slocum gliders as of January 2026. Of those gliders, more than 600 have been provided to NATO naval users. The GAVIA AUV systems are currently utilized by 18 navies, and Teledyne’s unmanned subsea platforms are operational across numerous NATO and AUKUS naval forces.
