Teledyne Marine has officially opened its 2026 Photo & Data Contest, welcoming submissions from international users to highlight innovative projects and data captured using the company’s marine technologies.
The annual competition celebrates the expertise and field adventures of the global marine community by encouraging participants to showcase products in action across laboratories, offices, and real-world field operations. Running from 1st July until 15th October 2026, the contest determines its winners through a combination of public voting and an evaluation by a panel of Teledyne Marine experts.
Participants are permitted to enter a maximum of three categories. The Voters’ Choice Award will be selected from the top ten entries with the highest number of public votes, with the winner receiving a HERO13 Black Ultra Wide Edition camera valued at $480. Four additional jury-selected categories will each award winners a KODAK PIXPRO WPZ2 Rugged Waterproof Digital Camera:
- The Best Data Award for outstanding sonar, ADCP, or multibeam data
- The Adversity Award for challenging conditions
- The Moment of Zen Award for inspiring environments
- The Underwater Award for imagery captured underwater or via Bowtech cameras
To qualify for expert judging, entries must receive a minimum of five public votes after being uploaded to the official contest page before the October deadline. Submissions will be assessed equally, with 50% of the score based on technical quality and 50% on the story behind the photo or dataset. Final winners will be announced in October 2026.
William Egan, Senior Vice President Sales and Marketing, Teledyne Marine, said, “Last year we received an incredible range of submissions, showcasing the many ways our technologies are supporting marine research and operations around the world.
“Our 2025 Voter’s Choice winner, Jonathan Valenzuela, captured a great photo of an approaching storm while collecting hydrological data with a Teledyne RiverPro 600 kHz ADCP, highlighting the challenges of scientific fieldwork. We’re look forward to seeing this year’s entries and the stories behind them.”
In accordance with the contest rules, government officials are not eligible to receive prizes.
