HydroSurv will utilise Dynautics’ autopilot technology in its latest hybrid-electric Uncrewed Surface Vehicle (USV), the REAV-47.
HydroSurv’s growing fleet of electric and hybrid USVs are engineered to meet evolving hydrographic, geophysical and oceanographic survey demands in nearshore and offshore environments. The REAV-47 features up to 90 hours of operational endurance and introduces rim-driven thruster propulsion, provided by Rim Drive Technology (RDT) of the Netherlands.
Dynautics CEO, Henry Robinson, commented: “It was a pleasure to work on yet another USV project with HydroSurv. The combination of the new thruster with independent steering gives the company another very capable craft. The REAV-47 is inherently scalable and will make a valuable addition to HydroSurv’s already comprehensive range of USV technology.”
Leveraging over six years of collaboration with HydroSurv and experience in CAN bus-based control architectures and modular design, Dynautics developed a customized interface to support this new thruster type. They also Dynautics employed automated simulation to test the thruster in its laboratory using data provided by RDT. This process ensured optimal performance in real maritime conditions.
