Teledyne Marine and Rutgers University-New Brunswick launched a mission to circumnavigate the globe with an autonomous underwater glider. The near five-year Sentinel Mission departed on 10 October 2025, following a ceremony at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI). The mission will use Teledyne’s ‘Redwing’, a next-generation Slocum Sentinel Glider, launched from the edge of the continental shelf south of Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts.

A record number of participants used Kraken Robotics Synthetic Aperture Sonar (SAS) technology during the annual Robotic Experimentation and Prototyping with Maritime Unmanned Systems (REPMUS) exercise in Portugal. Seven international naval teams and three Uncrewed Underwater Vehicle (UUV) manufacturers employed Kraken’s SAS technology for a range of maritime security applications, including mine countermeasure operations and critical underwater infrastructure inspections.

D-2 Inc. has introduced the AUV-CTD sensor, designed to deliver real-time conductivity, temperature, and depth measurements, along with calculated salinity and sound velocity data, for use on UUVs, gliders, floats, and profilers. The AUV-CTD is built around the hybrid conductivity sensor, which combines elements of electrode and inductive conductivity measurement.
