Walker Marine Design has been awarded a design contract for a new 16m pilot boat to be built by Grandweld Shipyard in Dubai for operations across Middle Eastern ports.

The vessel is designed to support safe and efficient pilot transfer operations in demanding conditions. Based on the company’s proven wave‑piercing hull form, the Zenith 54 Pilot Boat delivers excellent seakeeping, stability, and crew comfort, which reduces vertical accelerations and improves performance at speed. Propulsion will be supplied by twin Volvo D13 engines, enabling the craft to reach speeds of 30 knots to ensure rapid response and reliable transit times.

James Walker, Principal Naval Architect at WMD, commented, “We’re delighted to partner with Grandweld on this project. This design combines our latest hull technology with Grandweld’s strong shipbuilding capability.”

Production on the new vessel is scheduled to begin this summer, with final completion due in 2027. Ahead of the construction phase, Walker Marine Design is showcasing its full workboat portfolio at Seawork 2026, running from June 9 to 11 in Southampton at Stand G19.
